International Beef Belly Day, celebrated for the first time in Romania

Sthe area of culinary events: Tastings by Cosmin Dragomir & friends continues with another unique episode – the first celebration for Romania of International Belly Day (beef) with a 5-course tasting menu based on the star ingredient + a belly dish of pork and a vegetable dessert and prepared by Chef Laurentiu Hairadin at Rual Primul AproBistro.

The Tripe Marketing Board in Great Britain, an institution that promotes the consumption of beef belly, chose the date October 24 because on this day in 1662 the politician, novelist and chronicler Samuel Pepys wrote: "So I returned home and I dined with my wife on a very good belly dish of my own making.' In Italy there is a similar institution, the Academia de la Trippa, whose member is also Cosmin Dragomir, culinary journalist, who is preparing the book - "On the heights of the hangover, a history of belly soup and more".

"I'm glad that the people from Rual Primul AproBistro and the SERVE winery have agreed to organize together this unique event for our gastronomic landscape. Unfortunately, we do not manage to exploit this ingredient at its true value, we only make soup and, rarely, tuslama or stew. In my research for the book, I came across hundreds of beef belly recipes from every continent. In Italy I was amazed by the Tripperia restaurants that specialize in cooking beef belly and are in high demand. Chef Laurentiu Hairadin chose six beef belly recipes from three continents, to which he added a pork belly dish and a vegetable dessert. The tasting menu is completed with brandy and wines from Crama Serve", Cosmin Dragomir.
